Early Life

Anastasios "Sakis" Rouvas was born on January 5, 1972, in Mantouki, a suburb of Corfu City, Greece. He grew up in a financially struggling household as the eldest son of Konstantinos "Kostas" Rouvas and Maria-Ioanna Panaretou. From a young age, he showed a talent for athletics and the arts, taking ballet classes and participating in gymnastics and theatrical productions. His early exposure to music came from self-teaching guitar and being inspired by international artists like Elvis Presley. After his parents' divorce in 1984, he moved in with his grandparents and began working various jobs to support his family.

Career

Rouvas's music career began in earnest in the early 1990s when he moved to Athens and performed at the Show Centre nightclub. His rendition of Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" caught the attention of PolyGram executives, leading to his first recording contract. He debuted at the Thessaloniki Song Festival in 1991 with his self-titled album, which topped the Greek Albums Chart and included hits like "Par'ta" and "Ego S'agapo." Over the years, he released numerous successful albums, including "Μην αντιστέκεσαι" and "Αίμα, δάκρυα & ιδρώτας," and became known for his dynamic performances and pop-rock style, heavily influenced by artists like Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.

Personal Life

Sakis Rouvas has been in a long-term relationship with model Aikaterini "Katia" Zygouli since 2003, and they married in 2017. The couple has four children together. Despite his transition from athletics to music, Rouvas has maintained an active lifestyle, training in pole vault and participating in various sports. He has openly discussed his struggles with dyslexia, which he experienced during his school years. Rouvas remains a prominent figure in Greek pop culture, known not only for his music but also for his charisma and philanthropic efforts.
