吳建豪

Early Life

Vanness Wu was born in Santa Monica, California, to Taiwanese immigrant parents, George Wu and Mimi Yang. His name was inspired by Van Nuys Boulevard, where his family lived. After graduating from Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, he moved to Taiwan to pursue a career in entertainment. During his teenage years, he developed a passion for breakdancing, competing in various dance competitions throughout the 1990s, and even appeared in the 1998 music video for Jason Nevins' remix of Run-D.M.C.'s "It's Like That".

Career

Wu's career took off when he starred as Mei Zuo in the Taiwanese drama series "Meteor Garden" and its sequel, which led to the formation of the boy band F4. The group released three studio albums, and in 2002, Wu launched his solo career with the album "Body Will Sing", featuring the hit single "I Hate Myself". His work earned him accolades, including a spot on Hit Fm Taiwan's Annual Top 100 Singles Chart. Wu's versatility is evident as he ventured into acting, making his film debut in the Hong Kong film "Star Runner" and later collaborating with Korean singer Kangta to form the duo Kangta & Vanness. Notably, he opened for Kanye West's "Glow in the Dark" concert in Shanghai in 2008.

Personal Life

Vanness Wu's personal life has been as dynamic as his career. He dated Taiwanese actress Vivian Hsu from 2002 to 2005 and later married Singaporean actress Arissa Cheo in 2013. However, their marriage faced challenges, leading to a divorce finalized in February 2019. In a surprising turn, Wu announced his remarriage in June 2026, shortly after F4's reunion concert, sparking speculation about his new partner, later revealed to be Japanese singer Emi Aramaki.
