Early Life

Zhao Wei, also known as Vicky Zhao, was born on March 12, 1976, in Wuhu, Anhui, China. She is the second child of Zhao Jiahai, an engineer, and Wei Qiying, a primary school teacher. Growing up, she attended various schools, culminating in her graduation from Wuhu Normal School in 1994. Zhao's passion for acting was ignited during her early years, leading her to enroll in the Xie Jin Heng Tong Star Academy of Performing Arts, and later, the prestigious Beijing Film Academy, where she graduated in 2000 with the highest entrance examination score in the country.

Career

Zhao's career began in 1994 with a minor role in the film "A Soul Haunted by Painting." Her breakthrough came in 1998 with the television series "My Fair Princess," which catapulted her to fame. Over the years, she starred in numerous successful films and dramas, including "Romance in the Rain" (2001), "Shaolin Soccer" (2001), and "Painted Skin" (2008). Zhao has also ventured into music, releasing several albums such as "小燕子赵薇" and "愛情大魔咒," showcasing her versatility as an artist. Her contributions to film earned her accolades, including the Golden Eagle Award for Best Actress and the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress for her role in "Dearest" (2014).
