Early Life

Kim Soo-hyun was born on February 16, 1988, in the Gangnam District of Seoul, South Korea. He grew up in a single-parent household after his parents separated during his early childhood. His mother encouraged him to take acting classes to help him overcome his shyness, which sparked his interest in the performing arts. Kim's early experiences included performing in stage plays, notably taking on the role of Puck in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and later portraying Kenickie in the musical "Grease" and Hamlet in the tragedy of the same name. He completed his education in Seoul and enrolled in Chung-Ang University's Film and Theater Department in 2009.

Career

Kim made his television debut in 2007 with a supporting role in the family sitcom "Kimchi Cheese Smile." His breakthrough came in 2011 with the high school musical drama "Dream High," where he played a country bumpkin with musical talent. This role catapulted him to fame, leading to significant roles in popular dramas such as "Moon Embracing the Sun" and films like "The Thieves" and "Secretly, Greatly." Personal Life

In addition to his acting career, Kim is known for his dedication to his responsibilities, having been recognized as a model taxpayer in 2015. He has a half-sister, Kim Ju-na, who is also a singer. A passionate bowler, he attempted to qualify as a professional bowler in 2016. Kim completed his mandatory military service from October 2017 to July 2019, where he excelled and was promoted to Sergeant for his exemplary conduct. His commitment to his craft and personal interests continues to endear him to fans around the world.
