Early Life

Park Bo-gum was born on June 16, 1993, in Mok-dong, Seoul, South Korea, as the youngest of three siblings. His name, which translates to "precious sword," was given to him by a pastor. Tragically, Park lost his mother when he was in the fourth grade, a loss that deeply impacted his life. Despite this, he developed a passion for music early on, beginning piano lessons in kindergarten and maintaining his interest throughout his education. After graduating from Shinmok High School in 2012, he pursued a degree in musical theatre at Myongji University, where he later earned a master's degree in New Media Music.

Career

Park's career began in 2011 with a supporting role in the thriller "Blind." He initially aimed to be a singer-songwriter, but a talent agent encouraged him to focus on acting. His breakthrough came in 2013 with the drama "Wonderful Mama," followed by a notable performance in "Naeil's Cantabile" in 2014, where he played a gifted cellist. His rise to fame continued with critically acclaimed roles in dramas like "Hello Monster" and hosting the music show "Music Bank" alongside singer Irene from 2015 to 2016. Personal Life

In August 2020, Park enlisted in the Republic of Korea Navy's Military Band and Honor Guard Cultural Promotion Corps for his mandatory military service. He was discharged early on February 21, 2022, after using his remaining leave due to COVID-19 guidelines. During his service, he also obtained a barber's license, showcasing his diverse interests beyond entertainment.

Park Bo-gum has received numerous accolades, including two Baeksang Arts Awards and a Blue Dragon Series Award. He has been recognized for his charitable work, receiving a Prime Minister's Commendation in 2022.
