Alexander Vasilyevich Alexandrov was born on April 13, 1883, in the Soviet Union. Career
Alexandrov's career flourished as he became a professor at the Moscow Conservatory in 1918. He also served as the choirmaster at Christ the Savior Cathedral from 1918 to 1922. His most notable achievement was founding the Alexandrov Ensemble, a choir that gained significant acclaim and even performed at the Universal Exposition of 1937 in Paris. Alexandrov's music was deeply intertwined with the Soviet state; he composed the music for the State Anthem of the Soviet Union, which was officially adopted on January 1, 1944. This anthem later became the National Anthem of the Russian Federation in 2000.
Legacy
Throughout his life, Alexandrov received numerous accolades for his contributions to music, including the title of People's Artist of the USSR and multiple Stalin Prizes.
