Биография
Formation
Arctic Monkeys are an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 2002. The original lineup consisted of lead singer and guitarist Alex Turner, drummer Matt Helders, bassist Andy Nicholson, and guitarist Jamie Cook. Turner and Helders, who were neighbors and close friends, met Nicholson in secondary school. The band began rehearsing at Yellow Arch Studios and played their first gig on June 13, 2003, at The Grapes in Sheffield. After recording demos, they gained attention through file-sharing, leading to their debut album, "Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not," released in 2006.
Lineup Changes and Key Releases
In 2006, bassist Andy Nicholson left the band and was replaced by Nick O'Malley. The band continued to evolve, releasing several critically acclaimed albums, including "Favourite Worst Nightmare" (2007), "Humbug" (2009), "Suck It and See" (2011), and the chart-topping "AM" (2013). Their sound has been described as a mix of indie rock, garage rock, and post-punk revival, with Turner’s sharp lyrics often reflecting on youth culture and relationships.
Legacy and Influence
Arctic Monkeys have been hailed as one of the most important British bands of all time, credited with revolutionizing how new music is discovered and shared. Their debut album was pivotal in the resurgence of British indie music, and they have received numerous awards, including BRIT Awards and NME Awards. The band’s influence extends beyond music, with their lyrics and style resonating with a wide audience, making them a cultural touchstone in the UK.

Также известен как: Artic Monkeys, The Arctic Monkeys
Arctic Monkeys are an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 2002. They comprise lead singer and guitarist Alex Turner, drummer Matt Helders, guitarist Jamie Cook and bassist Nick O'Malley, who replaced co-founder and original bassist Andy Nicholson in 2006. Though initially associated with the short-lived landfill indie movement, Arctic Monkeys were one of the earliest bands to come to public attention via the Internet, during the emerging "blog rock" era. Commentators have suggested that this period marked a shift in how new bands were promoted and marketed.
