Биография

Early Life

Christopher Tony Wolstenholme was born in Rotherham, England, where he spent his formative years before moving to Teignmouth, Devon. Growing up in a family with a father who worked in the coal industry, Wolstenholme initially played drums in a post-punk band. His musical journey took a pivotal turn when he met Matt Bellamy and Dominic Howard, who encouraged him to switch to bass guitar and form a band. This collaboration led to the formation of Muse in 1994, originally named Rocket Baby Dolls.

Career

As the bassist and backing vocalist for Muse, Wolstenholme has been instrumental in shaping the band's sound, known for his innovative use of effects and synthesizers to create distinctive fuzz bass tones. He contributed to the band's sixth album, "The 2nd Law" (2012), writing and singing lead vocals on two tracks. In addition to his work with Muse, he has collaborated with other artists, including playing bass on Moriaty's single "Bones" and contributing to Rick Parfitt's posthumous album "Over and Out" (2018). In 2024, he launched a solo project called Chromes, releasing singles such as "Imaginary World" and "The Good Life."

Personal Life

Wolstenholme's personal life has been marked by both joy and struggle. He married his girlfriend Kelly in 2003, and they have six children together. After their divorce, he married Caris Ball in 2018, adding to his family with a daughter and a son, bringing his total to ten children. Despite his success, Wolstenholme has faced significant challenges with alcoholism, which he battled for years before seeking help. His experiences with addiction inspired songs like "Liquid State" and "Save Me" from Muse's album "The Resistance" (2009). In recognition of his contributions to music, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Arts from the University of Plymouth in 2008.
