Early Life

Emily Jane Browning was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, to Andrew and Shelley Browning. Growing up with two younger brothers, she attended Hurstbridge Learning Co-op and Eltham High School, where her passion for the arts began to flourish.

Career

Browning's career took off when she made her film debut in the 1998 television film "The Echo of Thunder." She quickly gained recognition through various roles in Australian television, including a recurring part in the series "Blue Heelers" from 2000 to 2002. Her breakthrough came in 2002 with the horror film "Ghost Ship," which introduced her to a broader audience. The following year, she starred as Violet Baudelaire in "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," earning her the Australian Film Institute International Award for Best Actress.

In addition to her acting, Browning ventured into music, appearing in the music video for Evermore's "Light Surrounding You" in 2006. She continued to build her filmography with notable roles in films like "The Uninvited" and "Sucker Punch," showcasing her versatility as an actress.
