GACKT

Early Life

Gackt, born Gakuto Oshiro on July 4, 1973, in Okinawa, Japan, is the second of three children in a Ryukyuan family. His father, a music teacher, and his mother, also an educator, instilled a love for music in him from a young age. Gackt's musical journey began at the tender age of three with classical piano lessons. However, frequent relocations due to his father's job made it challenging to maintain consistent training. After a brief hiatus from music, he returned to his piano studies, inspired by the works of Frédéric Chopin, whom he credits for teaching him the emotional depth of music.

Music Career

Gackt's professional music career took off in the early 1990s when he joined the visual kei band Malice Mizer in 1995. As their vocalist and primary lyricist, he contributed to their acclaimed albums, including "Voyage Sans Retour" and "Merveilles." His tenure with the band ended in 1999, after which he embarked on a successful solo career, releasing numerous albums such as "MARS," "Rebirth," and "MOON." Gackt's music is characterized by a blend of rock and classical elements, showcasing his versatility as a vocalist and songwriter.

Acting Career

In addition to music, Gackt has made a name for himself in acting. He starred in the film "Moon Child" and participated in various TV documentaries. His roles in video games, including the character Genesis Rhapsodos in the "Final Fantasy" series, further expanded his artistic repertoire. Gackt's performances often reflect his deep understanding of character and emotion, earning him accolades in both music and film.
