In the last years of his life, he was engaged to bodybuilder Negrita Jayde. Hines passed away in 2003, leaving behind a rich legacy in the world of dance and entertainment.
Legacy
In recognition of his contributions to the arts, the United States Postal Service honored Hines with a postage stamp as part of its Black Heritage Series on January 28, 2019, celebrating his impact on American culture and the art of tap dance.
