Early Life

John Joseph Corbett Jr. was born on May 6, 1961, in Wheeling, West Virginia. Raised in a culturally diverse household, he grew up with a Catholic mother of Russian-Jewish descent and a father who was a Jehovah's Witness. Corbett began playing guitar at the young age of seven and worked as a security guard at the Capitol Music Hall during his teenage years. After graduating from Wheeling Central Catholic High School in 1979, he moved to California, where he initially worked in a steel factory and later pursued hairdressing and acting.

Career

Corbett's acting career took off in 1988 with a role in the ABC series "The Wonder Years." He gained significant recognition for his portrayal of Chris Stevens in the CBS series "Northern Exposure" from 1990 to 1995, earning nominations for both a Golden Globe and an Emmy.
