Early Life

Katrien Verbeeck, known professionally as Kate Ryan, was born on July 22, 1980, in Tessenderlo, Belgium. By the age of eight, she was already a multi-instrumentalist, showcasing her talent early on. By her mid-teens, she had become a full-fledged performer, and at 16, she joined the pop group Melt. After two years, she decided to pursue a solo career, which led her to meet producer Andy Janssens.

Career

Kate Ryan's music career took off in 2001 when she released her debut single, "Scream for More," which became a hit in Belgium. Her breakthrough came in 2002 with a dance cover of Mylène Farmer's "Désenchantée," which charted across Europe. That same year, she released her first album, "Different," which achieved gold and platinum status in several territories, selling over 250,000 copies. Following this success, she released her second album, "Stronger," in 2004, featuring the popular single "The Promise You Made."

In 2006, Ryan represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Je t'adore," finishing 12th. Throughout her career, she has sold approximately 3.5 million records and has received a World Music Award for best-selling Benelux artist. Her music, characterized by a blend of pop and dance, continues to resonate with fans across Europe and beyond.
