Early Life

Lenka Eden Kripac, born on March 19, 1978, in Bega, Australia, is the daughter of Czech jazz trumpet musician Jiří Křipač and an Australian schoolteacher named Eden. She spent her early years in Bega before moving to Sydney at the age of seven, where she received her education and training in acting and music. Lenka's artistic journey began early, as she became a highly regarded theatre actress and later transitioned into music.

Career

Lenka's career took off in the 1990s when she studied acting at the Australian Theatre for Young People, where she trained alongside notable actress Cate Blanchett. She gained recognition for her role as Vesna Kapek in the Australian TV drama series GP and hosted the popular show Cheez TV. In addition to her television work, Lenka appeared in films such as The Dish and Lost Things, and she was a member of the electronic-rock band Decoder Ring. In 2007, she moved to California, marking a significant shift in her career.

In 2008, Lenka released her self-titled debut album, which featured the hit single "The Show." The song gained widespread popularity, appearing in various advertisements and films, including the Nickelodeon movie Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and the 2011 film Moneyball. Lenka's music is characterized by its whimsical style, often accompanied by unique stop-motion animated music videos created with her husband, visual artist James Gulliver Hancock.

Personal Life

Lenka currently resides in regional New South Wales, Australia, with her husband and their two children. She announced her pregnancy in September 2011 and welcomed her son Quinn in March 2012, followed by the birth of her daughter Etta in 2016. Lenka continues to create music that resonates with audiences, showcasing her artistic evolution and personal experiences through her work.
