Early Life
Martijn Gerard Garritsen, known professionally as Ytram, was born on May 14, 1996, in Amstelveen, Netherlands. He grew up in a musically inclined family, learning to play the guitar at the age of eight. His passion for music intensified after witnessing Dutch DJ Tiësto perform at the 2004 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony, which inspired him to pursue a career as a DJ. By downloading FL Studio, he began producing music and later graduated from the Herman Brood Academy, a production school in Utrecht, in 2013.
Career
Ytram's career took off when he was discovered by Tiësto, leading to a deal with Spinnin' Records in 2012. His breakout single, "Animals," released in 2013, became a massive hit, making him the youngest artist to reach number one on Beatport. Following this success, he released several other singles, including "Make You Mine," "Fire," and "Alive." Ytram has collaborated with various artists and has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Popprijs and the MTV Europe Music Award for Best World Stage Performance. He is known for his contributions to electronic dance music, particularly in genres like electro house and progressive house.
Philanthropy
Beyond his music career, Ytram is also committed to philanthropy. He has headlined charity events, including a concert in Los Angeles for the non-profit organization Fuck Cancer and a special show in Mumbai to support children's education in India. His dedication to social causes is evident in his work with SOS Children's Village in South Africa, where he performed for children in need.
