Natalie Jane Imbruglia was born on February 4, 1975, in Sydney, Australia, as the second of four daughters to Maxene and Elliot Imbruglia. Her father, of Italian descent, immigrated to Australia as a child, while her mother has Irish, Scottish, and English roots, with an ancestor arriving as a convict on the First Fleet. Growing up in Berkeley Vale, New South Wales, Natalie attended Mater Dei College and later McDonald College, where she studied ballet, tap, and Highland dancing.
