Formation

Papa Roach is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Vacaville, California, when lead vocalist Jacoby Shaddix and drummer Dave Buckner met on a high school football field. They were soon joined by lead guitarist Jerry Horton, rhythm guitarist Anne Mikolajcik, trombonist Ben Luther, and bassist Will James. The band initially performed under the name "Papa Gato" but later changed it to Papa Roach, combining the nicknames of Shaddix's grandfathers. Their first EP, "Potatoes for Christmas," was released in 1994, marking the beginning of their recording career.

Breakthrough

The band's lineup stabilized in 1996 with the addition of bassist Tobin Esperance, and they began to gain traction in the music scene. Their major breakthrough came with the release of their album "Infest" in 2000, which included the hit single "Last Resort." This album propelled them into the mainstream, establishing their presence in the nu metal genre. Over the years, Papa Roach has released several successful albums, including "Lovehatetragedy," "Getting Away With Murder," and "Metamorphosis," showcasing their evolution from hardcore punk to a more diverse sound incorporating elements of rap rock and alternative metal.
