Early Life

Daniel Hernandez, known professionally as Tekashi 6ix9ine, was born on May 8, 1996, in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. He was raised by his mother, Natividad Perez-Hernandez, a factory worker and house cleaner from Mexico, and his father, Daniel Hernandez Sr., who was from Puerto Rico. Hernandez had a tumultuous childhood, marked by the absence of his father until he was nine and the tragic murder of his stepfather in 2010, which plunged him into a deep depression. He struggled academically, eventually dropping out of high school around the tenth grade to work various jobs, including as a busboy.

Music Career

Hernandez's foray into music began in 2012 when he met Peter "Righteous P" Rodgers, who encouraged him to pursue rapping. He adopted the stage name Tekashi69, blending his love for Japanese anime with a nod to the 69 sex position. His music career took off with the release of tracks like "GUMMO" and "FEFE," showcasing his aggressive rapping style and vibrant persona characterized by rainbow-colored hair and extensive tattoos. Over the years, he has released several albums, including "DUMMY BOY" and "TattleTales," and has become a prominent figure in the hip-hop scene, known for his controversial public image and legal troubles.

Philanthropy and Personal Life

Despite his tumultuous career, Hernandez has engaged in philanthropic efforts, including donating proceeds from his music to youth programs and supporting anti-violence initiatives. He has also made headlines for his interactions with fans, such as spending time with a terminally ill girl in Brooklyn. In September 2022, he even took on a new role as a goalkeeper for the Russian media football team GOATS. Hernandez identifies as Christian and has a daughter from a previous relationship, adding a personal dimension to his public persona.
