Formation
The Hardkiss is a Ukrainian rock band formed in 2011 by singer Julia Sanina and guitarist Valeriy "Val" Bebko. Their musical journey began when Sanina, at just 18 years old, interviewed Bebko for an article while she was an aspiring student journalist. This encounter blossomed into a friendship and later a marriage, leading them to collaborate musically under the name Val & Sanina. They initially released songs in Russian but later transitioned to English to reach a broader audience, ultimately adopting the name The Hardkiss, inspired by the contrasting elements of their music.
Early Years and Breakthrough
In September 2011, The Hardkiss released their debut video "Babylon," expanding their lineup to include bassist Klym Lysiuk and drummer Yevhen Kibeliev. They quickly gained recognition, opening for notable acts like the English synth-pop duo Hurts and American singer Solange Knowles. Their single "Dance with Me" received significant airplay on MTV, marking their entry into the mainstream music scene. The band has since released several albums, including "Stones And Honey" and "Perfection Is a Lie," showcasing their evolution in the electronic rock genre.
