The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2001 by Brandon Flowers and Dave Keuning. After Flowers was fired from his previous band, he sought to create a new musical project and responded to an ad placed by Keuning, a guitarist who had recently moved to Las Vegas. The duo quickly bonded over their shared musical influences and began writing songs together. They named their band The Killers after a fictional band featured in the music video for New Order's song "Crystal". In 2002, they solidified their lineup with the addition of bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr., who have remained with the band since.
Breakthrough
The Killers gained significant attention with their debut album, "Hot Fuss," released in 2004, which included hit singles like "Mr. Brightside" and "Somebody Told Me."
