The Last Shadow Puppets

Formation

The Last Shadow Puppets formed in 2007, emerging from the vibrant UK music scene. The supergroup consists of Alex Turner, the lead singer of Arctic Monkeys, and Miles Kane, who was then the lead singer of the newly formed band, The Rascals. Their friendship blossomed when Kane's previous band, The Little Flames, supported Arctic Monkeys on their 2005 UK tour. This collaboration led to songwriting sessions that would eventually culminate in the creation of The Last Shadow Puppets.

The Age of the Understatement

Their debut album, "The Age of the Understatement," was recorded in late 2007, with the help of producer James Ford and the London Metropolitan Orchestra. The album showcased a unique blend of Baroque pop and orchestral elements, drawing inspiration from a variety of artists, including Scott Walker and David Bowie. The album was well-received, establishing the band as a significant force in the indie rock genre.

Continued Success and Influence

Following their debut, The Last Shadow Puppets released their second album, "Everything You’ve Come to Expect," which further solidified their artistic identity. The band is known for their flamboyant stage presence and distinctive style, often designed by Kane. Their music continues to influence a new generation of artists, with their eclectic sound and theatrical performances setting them apart in the contemporary music landscape.
