Tokio Hotel is a German pop rock band formed in 2001 in Magdeburg, Germany, by identical twin brothers Bill and Tom Kaulitz, along with bassist Georg Listing and drummer Gustav Schäfer. The band initially performed under the name "Devilish" after the twins met Listing and Schäfer at one of their shows. They gained some local attention but struggled to find their footing until Bill auditioned for the reality TV talent show "Star Search" in 2003, which led to their discovery by music producer Peter Hoffmann. This pivotal moment prompted the band to change their name to Tokio Hotel, inspired by their love for Tokyo and their lifestyle of constant touring.
