Tyga

Early Life

Micheal Ray Stevenson, known professionally as Tyga, was born on November 19, 1989, in Compton, California. He was raised in a mixed heritage household, with Jamaican and Vietnamese roots, and grew up listening to influential artists like Fabolous, Lil Wayne, and Eminem. Tyga's upbringing has been a topic of debate; he claimed to have come from a low socioeconomic background, although he later suggested he grew up in a more affluent environment. His nickname, Tyga, was derived from his mother calling him "Tiger Woods."

Career

Tyga's music career began in earnest with the release of his debut mixtape, "Young On Probation," in 2007, which caught the attention of rapper Travie McCoy. This led to a contract with Decaydence Records, and he released his first studio album, "No Introduction," in 2008. However, it was his signing with Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment that propelled him to mainstream success. His second album, "Careless World: Rise of the Last King," released in 2012, peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit single "Rack City." Over the years, Tyga has released several successful albums, including "Hotel California" and collaborative projects like "Fan of a Fan" with Chris Brown, showcasing his evolution from pop-rap to a more trap-oriented sound.

Personal Life

Tyga's personal life has been as public as his music career. He married Jordan Craig in 2010, but the marriage ended shortly after. He later became engaged to model Blac Chyna, with whom he shares a son, King Cairo. Their relationship was highly publicized, especially due to Tyga's subsequent romance with reality star Kylie Jenner, which sparked controversy due to their age difference. Tyga's mother, Pasionaye Nicole Nguyen, passed away on January 18, 2025, marking a significant personal loss for the artist.
