Vader

Formation

Vader is a Polish death metal band formed in 1983 in Olsztyn by bassist Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek and guitarist Zbigniew "Vika" Wróblewski. Initially, the band played heavy and speed metal before evolving into thrash and finally death metal, releasing their first demo, "Live in Decay," in 1986. The band's lineup has seen numerous changes over the years, with Wiwczarek being the only constant member since its inception.

Breakthrough

Vader gained international attention with their third demo, "Morbid Reich," released in 1990, which sold nearly 10,000 copies, making it one of the most successful metal demos of its time. This success led to a contract with Earache Records, and their debut album, "The Ultimate Incantation," was released in 1992. Despite facing challenges, including a terminated contract with Earache, Vader continued to release influential albums such as "De Profundis" and "Black to the Blind" while touring extensively.

Legacy

Vader is recognized as one of Poland's most significant death metal exports, influencing the genre and inspiring bands like Eagles of Death Metal. Their unique sound, characterized by mechanized riffing and powerful vocals, has earned them a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim. As of 2022, the band consists of Wiwczarek on lead vocals and guitar, Marek "Spider" Pająk on rhythm guitar, Tomasz "Hal" Halicki on bass, and Michał Andrzejczyk on drums, continuing to make their mark in the metal scene.
