Early Life

Frank Edwin Wright III, known professionally as Tré Cool, was born on December 9, 1972, in Frankfurt, West Germany. He grew up in Willits, California, with his father, Frank Edwin Wright Jr., a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, and his elder sister, Lori. Tré's musical journey began at a young age when he was recruited as the drummer for the punk band the Lookouts at just 11 years old. Despite dropping out of high school to pursue music, he initially struggled to balance his education with his burgeoning career in the band scene.

Career

Tré Cool's big break came in 1990 when he replaced John Kiffmeyer as the drummer for the iconic rock band Green Day. His unique drumming style, which evolved from intricate beats to a more rhythmic approach, helped define the band's sound. Cool's energetic performances and wild stage presence earned him comparisons to legendary drummers like Keith Moon and John Bonham. He has also contributed to various side projects, including the Network and the Foxboro Hot Tubs, showcasing his versatility as a musician.

Tré Cool is a father of three, with children Ramona Isabel, Frank "Frankito" Edwin IV, and Mickey Otis. His personal life reflects a blend of family and music, as he continues to engage with the music community, even sitting in with Willie Nelson's band in early 2020.
