Early Life

Vira Viktorivna Halushka, known as Vira Brezhneva, was born on February 3, 1982, in Dniprodzerzhynsk, Ukraine. Growing up in a family where both parents worked at the Prydniprovsky Chemical Plant, she was raised alongside her three sisters. Vira pursued her education in economics, earning a degree from the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineering, specializing in accounting.

Career

Brezhneva's music career took off in 2002 when she joined the popular girl group Nu Virgos, also known as VIA Gra, after successfully auditioning to replace Alena Vinnitskaya. Under the guidance of producer Dmytro Kostyuk, she adopted the stage name Vera Brezhneva, a nod to the Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev, who hailed from her hometown. The group quickly gained fame, particularly with their albums "Stop! Snyato!" and "Biologiya," which solidified their status as a leading pop act in Russia and Ukraine. Brezhneva's time with Nu Virgos was marked by numerous accolades, including multiple Golden Gramophone Awards.

In 2007, she embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut album "Любовь спасёт мир" and later the album "VERVERA." Her singles, such as "Реальная жизнь" and "Бессоница," showcased her evolution as an artist and her ability to connect with audiences. Over the years, she has received various awards, including the prestigious Order of Princess Olga, 3rd class, and has been recognized as one of the sexiest women in Russia by Maxim magazine.

Personal Life

Vira Brezhneva has a rich personal life, having been married twice and having two daughters. Her first marriage was to Vitaliy Voychenko, with whom she shares a daughter born in 2001. She later married businessman Mykhailo Kiperman in 2006, with whom she had another daughter in 2009. In 2015, she married songwriter Konstantin Meladze, but they separated in 2022 amid controversies regarding his work in Russia following the invasion of Ukraine. Brezhneva now divides her time between Italy, Latvia, and Ukraine, continuing to influence the music scene while engaging in charitable activities.
