Formation
Avenged Sevenfold, an American heavy metal band, was formed in 1999 in Huntington Beach, California. The original lineup consisted of lead vocalist M. Shadows, guitarists Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates, bassist Matt Wendt, and drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan. The band's name, inspired by the biblical story of Cain and Abel, reflects their artistic vision. They recorded their first demo in October 1999 and played their first show in February 2000, quickly gaining traction in the local music scene.
Breakthrough and Evolution
The band released their debut album, "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet," in 2001, which showcased a metalcore sound. Their follow-up, "Waking the Fallen," released in 2003, marked a shift towards a more melodic style, incorporating clean vocals.
