Axwell

Early Life

Axel Christofer Hedfors, known professionally as Axwell, was born on December 18, 1977, in Sweden. His passion for music ignited at a young age; by nine, he had taught himself to play the drums. At thirteen, he transitioned from drums to a computer, allowing him to create music independently. During his teenage years, he attended Fäladsgården Elementary School and began his music career by releasing a limited techno/hard trance EP under the name OXL in 1995. He also made a name for himself in the tracking music scene as Quazar, producing acid techno tracks using FastTracker 2 and NoiseTracker.

Musical Career

Axwell's professional journey began in earnest in the late 1990s and early 2000s, where he started remixing tracks for various artists. His first official remix was released in 2000, and he quickly gained recognition for his work on songs like Usher's "Burn" and Madonna's "Jump." In 2002, he produced the track "Lead Guitar," marking a return to his roots. His collaboration with Isabel Fructuoso, known as Mambana, produced hits like "No Reason" and "Libre," which achieved significant success in the dance music scene. Axwell is also a member of the renowned group Swedish House Mafia, alongside Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello, and is the owner of Axtone Records. His contributions to house music have earned him accolades, including two DJ Awards and a spot on the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll in 2013.
