Early Life

Barbara Piévic, known professionally as Barbara Pravi, was born on April 10, 1993, in Paris, France. Growing up in a family of artists, her father is of Serbian and Moroccan Jewish descent, while her mother has Polish Jewish and Iranian roots. This rich cultural background influenced her artistic development. Barbara spent her childhood in Asnières-sur-Seine and later moved to Montmartre, Paris. She has a younger sister, Clémence, who is a psychologist, and both sisters are active in charitable causes.

Career

Pravi's music career began in 2014 when she met musician Jules Jaconelli, leading to her first original song, "Amour Impoli," and a contract with Capitol Music France. She adopted the stage name "Pravi" as a tribute to her Serbian grandfather, meaning "real" or "authentic". Her debut album, "On n’enferme pas les oiseaux," was released on August 27, 2021, and she gained international recognition by representing France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with her song "Voilà," finishing in second place, the best result for France since 1991. Over the years, she has released several EPs and singles, showcasing her evolution as an artist.

Personal Life and Philanthropy

Barbara has been open about her struggles with health issues, including depression and experiences of domestic violence. She is a passionate advocate for women's rights and has participated in various charitable initiatives, including the song "Debout les femmes" with 39 other female musicians. In 2022, she was involved in a charity show that raised over 6 million euros for various causes. Pravi's connection to her heritage and her commitment to social issues continue to shape her music and public persona.
