Cartel de Santa

Formation

Cartel de Santa is a prominent Mexican hip hop group formed in 1996 in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León, Mexico, by Hector Montaño and Ronaldo Sifuentes. The group emerged as part of the Avanzada Regia musical movement, which sought to innovate the Mexican music scene. Initially, the lineup included lead vocalist Babo, who remains a key figure in the group, alongside other members who contributed to their unique sound.

Breakthrough

The group gained significant recognition in 2003 with the release of their self-titled debut album, which featured hit tracks like "Perros," "Todas Mueren por Mí," and "La Pelotona." Produced by Jason Roberts, known for his work with major artists, this album helped establish Cartel de Santa as a leading force in Latin hip-hop. Following this success, they released several albums, including "Vol. II" in 2004 and "Volumen ProIIIbido" in 2007, which continued to showcase their evolving style and collaborations with other artists.

Continued Success

In the years that followed, Cartel de Santa released more albums, including "Vol. IV" in 2008 and "Sincopa" in 2010, solidifying their status in the music industry. Their music often reflects themes relevant to their audience, and they have been recognized for their contributions to the genre. The group has undergone various lineup changes, with Dharius being a notable member from 2000 to 2013, but Babo has remained the constant driving force behind their music.
