Christina Perri

Early Life

Christina Judith Perri was born on August 19, 1986, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. Of Italian and Polish descent, she describes her family as "very Italian". Perri graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in 2004 and later attended the University of the Arts, where she majored in communication for a year before dropping out to pursue her passion for music. She taught herself to play guitar at 16 by watching a videotape of Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon and often sang and acted in musical theater as a child.

Career

Perri moved to Los Angeles on her 21st birthday, feeling terrified to be so far from her family. After a brief marriage, she focused entirely on her music career, moving back to Philadelphia where she wrote her breakout single, "Jar of Hearts". The song gained significant attention when featured on the television series *So You Think You Can Dance* in 2010, leading to her signing with Atlantic Records. Her debut studio album, *Lovestrong*, was released in 2011 and has since been certified platinum by the RIAA. Perri has released several albums, including *Head or Heart* and *songs for carmella: lullabies & sing-a-longs*, showcasing her evolution as an artist.

Personal Life

Perri became engaged to Paul Costabile in June 2017 and they married later that year. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Carmella, in January 2018. Perri has faced personal challenges, including a miscarriage in early 2020 and the stillbirth of her second daughter later that year. Despite these hardships, she announced the birth of her second daughter, Pixie Rose, in October 2022. Perri has openly discussed her struggles with a blood-clotting disorder, which has impacted her pregnancies, and she has over 50 tattoos, reflecting her artistic spirit.
