Hayley Williams

Early Life

Hayley Nichole Williams was born on December 27, 1988, in Meridian, Mississippi, to Cristi and Joey Williams. After her parents divorced in 2002, she moved with her mother to Franklin, Tennessee, where she met future Paramore bandmates Josh and Zac Farro. Williams began taking vocal lessons and tried out for a local funk cover band, The Factory, where she met Jeremy Davis, who would also join Paramore.

Career

Williams was discovered at the age of 14 by managers who signed her to a production deal. Initially intended to be a solo pop artist, she insisted on forming a band, leading to the creation of Paramore with Josh Farro, Zac Farro, and Jeremy Davis. The band released their debut album, "All We Know Is Falling," in 2005, when Williams was just 16. Paramore's music, characterized by pop-punk and emo influences, gained significant popularity, leading to multiple successful albums, including "Riot!" and "Brand New Eyes." In addition to her work with Paramore, Williams has released solo albums such as "Petals for Armor" and "FLOWERS for VASES / descansos."

Personal Life

Williams has been open about her beliefs and mental health struggles, previously identifying as Christian but often criticizing the judgmental nature of some within the faith. She was married to Chad Gilbert from 2016 until their separation in 2017, which inspired her song "Dead Horse." In 2022, she confirmed a relationship with Paramore bandmate Taylor York. Williams has also been vocal about her decisions regarding substance use and her experiences with depression, which led her to take a brief hiatus from Paramore in 2015.
