Early Life

Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., known professionally as Snoop Dogg, was born on October 20, 1971, in Long Beach, California. He was raised by his mother, Beverly Tate, after his biological father left shortly after his birth. Nicknamed "Snoopy" by his mother due to his resemblance to the Peanuts character, Snoop was the second of three sons. He grew up in a religious household, singing and playing piano at Golgotha Trinity Baptist Church, where his mother was a choir member. His early exposure to music, particularly old-school R&B, shaped his artistic inclinations. Snoop began rapping in sixth grade, quickly realizing his talent for engaging audiences with his performances.

Career
