The Script

Formation

The Script is an Irish pop rock band formed in 2001 in Dublin by lead vocalist and keyboardist Danny O'Donoghue, lead guitarist Mark Sheehan, and drummer Glen Power. The trio had been friends since childhood and previously collaborated in a boy band called Mytown. After a stint in Los Angeles working as producers for various artists, they returned to Dublin to establish The Script, signing with Phonogenic in 2005 and releasing their first EP shortly thereafter.

Breakthrough

The band's self-titled debut album, "The Script," was released on August 8, 2008, and quickly rose to number one on the UK album charts. It featured hit singles such as "We Cry," "The Man Who Can't Be Moved," and "Breakeven," which helped solidify their presence in the music industry. The Script's sound, influenced by bands like Snow Patrol and U2, resonated with audiences, leading to a successful career marked by multiple albums, including "Science & Faith" and "#3."

Recent Years

The Script continued to evolve their music with subsequent releases, including "No Sound Without Silence" and "Freedom Child." Tragically, founding member Mark Sheehan passed away in April 2023, but the band remains active with O'Donoghue and Power continuing to perform and create music. Their journey reflects a blend of personal and musical growth, showcasing their resilience and dedication to their craft.
