Early Life

Άννα Βίσση, a prominent Greek-Cypriot singer, was born on December 20, 1957. She began her musical journey at a young age, studying music at conservatories and performing locally. In 1973, she moved to Athens to pursue a professional career, signing with Minos and simultaneously collaborating with various artists while studying at the University of Athens.

Career

Vissi's career took off as she became a well-known figure in the Greek music scene. She has represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in 1980 and 2006, and also represented Cyprus in 1982. Over the years, she has released numerous albums, including notable works such as "Ναι," "Δαίμονες," and "Φωτιά." Her music spans genres like laïko and pop, showcasing her versatility as an artist. Vissi has received several prestigious awards, including accolades from the Thessaloniki Song Festival and the MAD Video Music Awards.

Personal Life

In her personal life, Vissi met fellow musician Nikos Karvelas in the mid-1970s, and they married on May 14, 1983. They welcomed their daughter, Sofia, later that year. Their marriage, however, faced challenges, leading to a widely publicized separation in the early 90s, although their divorce was finalized only in the mid-2000s. Despite their personal struggles, Vissi and Karvelas maintained a close friendship and continued to collaborate artistically. Vissi's daughter Sofia married Thanassis Panourgias in 2014 and became a mother of two before their divorce in 2022.
