Early Life

Thongchai McIntyre, popularly known as Bird, was born on December 8, 1958, in Bangkok, Thailand. He is the ninth of ten children in a family of Scottish-Mon descent. Growing up in a relatively poor household, Thongchai contributed to his family's income from a young age by folding paper bags, selling lottery tickets, and teaching English to children in his neighborhood. His passion for music emerged early, as he participated in temple fair singing contests, often winning prizes. Thongchai was largely self-taught, practicing with his musically talented siblings, who formed a family band called "Mong Doo Lian".

Career

Thongchai's career took off as he became one of the most commercially successful singers in Thai music history, with over 25 million albums sold. He is known for his engaging performances and has released numerous albums, including notable works like "Chud Rab Kaek" and "Smile Club". His album "Chud Rab Kaek" (2002) made history as the best-selling album in Thai music history. Thongchai's music spans the Thai pop genre, and he has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious title of Commander of the Order of the White Elephant. He is signed under the record label GMM Grammy and has been recognized as a National Artist of Thailand in 2023.
