Above & Beyond

Formation and Early Years

Above & Beyond, a British electronic music trio, was formed in 2000 by Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamäki. The duo of Grant and Siljamäki initially met at the University of Westminster, where they bonded over their shared passion for electronic music. They launched the Anjunabeats label in 1999 to release their own music, starting with their first single, "Volume One." This release garnered attention in dance clubs, thanks to support from prominent DJs like Paul Oakenfold and Paul van Dyk.

Rise to Prominence

The trio's breakthrough came with their remix of Chakra's "Home," which solidified their identity as Above & Beyond. Over the years, they have released several acclaimed albums, including "Tri‐State," "Sirens of the Sea," "Group Therapy," and "We Are All We Need." Their music, characterized by its trance influences, has earned them a dedicated fanbase and consistent rankings in DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJs Poll. Notably, two of their singles, "We're All We Need" and "Northern Soul," received Grammy nominations.

Above & Beyond's impact on the electronic music scene is profound, with their Anjunabeats label becoming a significant platform for emerging artists. They have been recognized with numerous awards, including accolades from the International Dance Music Awards and nominations from the Grammy Awards. Their sound has been influenced by artists like Energy 52, and they continue to shape the trance genre with their innovative productions and live performances.
