Alessandra Mussolini

Early Life

Alessandra Mussolini was born in Rome in 1962, into a prominent family as the granddaughter of Benito Mussolini, the infamous fascist dictator of Italy. She is the daughter of Romano Mussolini and Marianna Pia Villani Scicolone, the latter being the sister of actress Sophia Loren. Alessandra attended the American Overseas School of Rome and later graduated from Sapienza University of Rome with a Master of Science in medicine and surgery in 1994. In 1989, she married customs policeman Mauro Floriani, proposing to him contrary to tradition, and they have three children together.

Entertainment Career

Mussolini began her career in the entertainment industry during the 1970s, initially under the guidance of her aunt Sophia Loren. She appeared in the film "A Special Day" (1977), which garnered international acclaim. In 1982, she released a Japanese pop album titled "Amore," which became a collector's item. Mussolini also participated in the 11th Tokyo Music Festival, winning a silver award. Her modeling career included features in European editions of Playboy, showcasing her versatility in the entertainment field.

Political Career

Transitioning from entertainment to politics, Alessandra Mussolini was elected to the Italian Parliament in 1992 as a member of the Italian Social Movement. Over the years, she has been affiliated with several political parties, including Forza Italia and The People of Freedom. Mussolini has served in both houses of the Italian Parliament and the European Parliament, where she was a member until 2024. Her political journey has been marked by her candidacy for mayor of Naples in 1993 and her departure from the National Alliance in 2003 over ideological differences.
