Early Life

Alessia Caracciolo, known professionally as Alessia Cara, was born on July 11, 1996, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Growing up in Brampton, she attended Cardinal Ambrozic Catholic Secondary School. With Italian roots from Calabria, Alessia was raised in a bilingual household and is fluent in Italian. She developed a passion for music early on, writing poetry and performing in theater. At the age of 10, she learned to play the guitar and began posting covers of popular songs on her YouTube channel at 13, drawing inspiration from artists like Justin Bieber.

Career

Alessia's career took off in 2014 when she signed a management deal with EP Entertainment and Def Jam Recordings. Her debut single, "Here," released in April 2015, quickly gained traction, peaking at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earning critical acclaim.
