Early Life

Alexa Demie was born in 1990/1991 and raised in Atwater Village, Los Angeles. Growing up in a creative environment, she was influenced by her mother, Rose Mendez, a make-up artist whose family immigrated from Mexico. Although she had aspirations of becoming a fashion designer and even launched a sunglasses line called Mainframe during high school, she shifted her focus to the performing arts in her senior year after realizing her passion for acting.

Career

Demie's career began with her appearance in Azealia Banks' 2013 music video for "ATM Jam." She gained early recognition with a lead role in the shelved biopic The Godmother and appeared in various television series, including Ray Donovan and Love. Her feature film debut came in 2017 with Brigsby Bear, but it was her role as Maddy Perez in HBO's Euphoria that catapulted her to fame. Cast in 2019, Demie became a breakout star, portraying a complex character involved in a tumultuous relationship. She continued to build her filmography with roles in Waves and Mainstream, and in 2021, she collaborated with photographer Petra Collins on a collection of erotic short stories.

Recent Work and Future Projects

In 2024, Demie is set to appear in the HBO series Fantasmas, showcasing her versatility as an actress. As filming for Euphoria's third season begins in early 2025, she will reprise her iconic role, further solidifying her status in the entertainment industry.
