Early Life

Andrew Roane Dick, known as Andy Dick, was born on December 21, 1965, in Charleston, South Carolina. Adopted at birth by Allen and Sue Dick, he grew up in a Presbyterian household and moved frequently due to his father's Navy career, living in places like Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, and even Yugoslavia. In 1979, the family settled in Chicago, where Dick attended George Walton Comprehensive High School and later graduated from Joliet West High School in 1984. During his high school years, he was active in theater and even humorously embraced his surname by dressing as "Super Dick" for a school event.

Career

Andy Dick's career in comedy began with his involvement in The Second City theater group, which led him to television. He gained recognition as a cast member on "The Ben Stiller Show" and became a familiar face on NBC's "NewsRadio" from 1995 to 1999, where he played reporter Matthew Brock. His versatility allowed him to take on various roles, including a stylist in "The Nanny" and a character in the reboot of "Get Smart." In 2001, he created "The Andy Dick Show" for MTV, showcasing his unique comedic style. Dick's appearances on Comedy Central Roasts and late-night talk shows further solidified his reputation in the entertainment industry.
