Early Life

Aurora Aksnes, known mononymously as Aurora, was born on June 15, 1996, in Stavanger, Norway. The youngest of three daughters, she grew up in a family that fostered her creativity and love for nature. Her mother, May Britt Froastad, was a midwife, while her father, Jan Øystein Aksnes, sold garage doors. Aurora spent her early years in Høle before moving to Drange, a remote village surrounded by the woods of the Os mountains. This tranquil environment shaped her identity as a "forest person," where she found solace in nature and developed a unique perspective on life. Despite her eccentric personality, she preferred solitude, often exploring the forests and collecting dead insects, which later became symbolic in her music.

Career Beginnings

Aurora's musical journey began at a young age, as she started writing songs and learning dance at six. Initially, she kept her music private, exploring various career paths, including medicine and dance. Her breakthrough came unexpectedly when a classmate uploaded her song "Puppet" online, leading to a surge in popularity. In 2013, she signed with Made Management, marking the start of her professional career. Her debut album, "All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend," showcased her unique blend of electropop, folk, and art pop, earning her recognition as a pioneer in the Norwegian art pop scene.
