W. Axl Rose, born William Bruce Rose Jr. on February 6, 1962, in Lafayette, Indiana, faced a tumultuous childhood. After his parents separated when he was two, Rose was raised by his mother and stepfather, Stephen L. Bailey, in a deeply religious household. Career

Axl Rose's musical journey began in Los Angeles, where he arrived in the early 1980s. He joined the band Rapidfire and later formed Hollywood Rose with childhood friend Izzy Stradlin.
