Early Life

Brent Jay Spiner was born on February 2, 1949, in Houston, Texas, to Jewish parents Sylvia Schwartz and Jack Spiner, who owned a furniture store. Tragically, Jack Spiner passed away when Brent was just ten months old, leading to his adoption by his mother's second husband, Sol Mintz. Growing up, Brent attended Bellaire High School, where he excelled in drama, winning a national championship in dramatic interpretation. He later attended the University of Houston, where he began performing in local theater before leaving without a degree. His early career included performing at Six Flags AstroWorld, where he showcased his talent in various roles.

Career

Spiner's career took off when he moved to New York City in the early 1970s, where he became a prominent stage actor, appearing in Broadway and off-Broadway productions such as "The Three Musketeers" and Stephen Sondheim's "Sunday in the Park with George." He also made television appearances, including a notable role on the game show "To Tell the Truth" in 1972. In 1984, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he gained fame for his role as the android Data in the iconic series "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987–1994) and its subsequent films. Spiner's versatility as an actor is further highlighted by his work in theater and as a musician, releasing albums like "Ol’ Yellow Eyes Is Back" and "Dreamland."
