Formation

Bring Me the Horizon is a British rock band formed in March 2004 in Sheffield, England. The founding members, Matt Nicholls and Oliver Sykes, shared a passion for American metalcore and attended local hardcore punk shows. They later met guitarist Lee Malia, who brought influences from thrash metal and melodic death metal. The original lineup was completed with bassist Matt Kean and drummer Curtis Ward. The band's name is inspired by a line from the film "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl."

Early Releases and Evolution

The band quickly made a name for themselves, releasing their first EP, "This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For," in September 2004. They were the first signing of the local label Thirty Days of Night Records. Their debut album, "Count Your Blessings," followed in 2006, showcasing their early deathcore sound. As they evolved, their music began to incorporate elements from various genres, including post-hardcore, pop rock, and electronic influences, leading to a more diverse sound in albums like "Sempiternal" and "That's the Spirit."

Continued Success and Legacy

Over the years, Bring Me the Horizon has released several critically acclaimed albums, including "amo" and the recent "POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR." The band has been recognized with numerous awards, including wins at the Kerrang! Awards and nominations for the Grammy Awards. Their ability to adapt and change their musical style has solidified their place in the rock scene, making them one of the most influential bands of their generation. The current lineup features original members Sykes, Nicholls, Malia, and Kean, with Jordan Fish contributing as a keyboardist until 2023.
