Formation

Brødrene Olsen, also known as the Olsen Brothers, is a Danish pop rock duo formed in 1972 by siblings Jørgen and Niels "Noller" Olsen in Odense, Denmark. The duo initially gained experience in the music scene by performing in their first band, The Kids, which they formed in 1965. They made a significant mark early on by warming up for The Kinks in 1965 and releasing their first single in 1967. After participating in the musical "Hair" in 1971, they began touring across Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, solidifying their presence in the Scandinavian music landscape.

Breakthrough

The Olsen Brothers achieved international fame when they won the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 2000, which allowed them to represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest that same year. Their winning song, "Fly on the Wings of Love" (Danish: "Smuk som et Stjerneskud"), not only won the contest but also became a defining hit for the duo. Over the years, they released a total of 13 albums, with notable titles including "Rockstalgi," "Wings of Love," and "Greatest & Latest." Their music features a distinctive two-voice harmony that has drawn comparisons to the Everly Brothers, earning them a dedicated fanbase, including notable figures like Cliff Richard and Björn Ulvaeus.

With approximately 3.2 million albums and 1.5 million singles sold, the Olsen Brothers have left a lasting impact on the Danish music scene. Their ability to blend pop and rock elements has resonated with audiences, and their participation in various music competitions has kept them relevant in the industry.
