Caetano Emanuel Viana Teles Veloso was born on August 7, 1942, in Brazil. He grew up in Bahia, a region that significantly influenced his music and artistic development. Raised in a Catholic family, he later identified as an atheist, stating he preferred not to "lie to his own intelligence" by believing in God.

Career

Veloso emerged as a prominent figure in the late 1960s, contributing to the Tropicália movement, which blended Brazilian popular music with rock and avant-garde influences. He collaborated with notable artists like Gilberto Gil and participated in the landmark album "Tropicália: ou Panis et Circencis" in 1968. His return to Brazil in 1972 marked a new phase in his career, characterized by a fusion of international styles and Brazilian rhythms. Over the years, he released numerous acclaimed albums, including "Estrangeiro" and "Tropicalia 2," and gained international recognition, particularly in Europe and Africa.

Personal Life

Veloso's personal life has been as colorful as his music. He married actress Andrea Gadelha in 1967, with whom he had a son, Moreno. After their separation in 1983, he married Paula Lavigne, with whom he had two more sons. Their relationship sparked controversy due to their age difference, as Paula was only 13 when they began dating.
