C.C.Catch

Early Life

C.C. Catch, born Caroline Catherine Müller, is a Dutch-German pop singer who emerged from humble beginnings. Born in the Netherlands to a Dutch mother and a German father, she moved to West Germany with her family in the late 1970s. Her parents recognized her musical talent early on, with her father, Peter Müller, a musician himself, playing a pivotal role as her manager and tour manager. In her teens, she participated in talent contests and joined the girl quartet Optimal, which released its first single in 1983.

Musical Career

C.C. Catch's career took a significant turn when she was discovered by renowned producer Dieter Bohlen while performing in Hamburg. He signed her to BMG and gave her the stage name C.C. Catch, a name that would become synonymous with Eurodisco in the 1980s. Her debut single, "I Can Lose My Heart Tonight," released in 1985, quickly climbed the charts, entering the top 20 in several European countries. Over the next few years, she collaborated with Bohlen, releasing twelve singles and four albums, with notable hits that solidified her place in pop music. However, after a creative dispute, she parted ways with Bohlen in 1989, leading to a legal battle for the rights to her name. Later, she teamed up with manager Simon Napier-Bell and released her last album, "Hear What I Say," in 1989, which showcased her desire for more creative control in her music.
