Christophe Le Friant, born on May 10, 1967, in Paris, France, is better known by his stage name Bob Sinclar. He began his journey in music during the 1980s, initially DJing under the alias Chris the French Kiss. His early influences were rooted in hip hop and jazz, which led him to create music projects like The Mighty Bop and Reminiscence Quartet, the latter under the alias Desmond K.

Career Milestones

In 1998, Le Friant adopted the name Bob Sinclar, inspired by a character from the 1973 film "Le Magnifique." He became a prominent figure in the French house music scene, known for popularizing the "French touch" style characterized by the use of sampled and filtered disco strings. His musical philosophy revolves around themes of peace, love, and house music. Throughout the 2000s, Sinclar achieved international success with hits such as "The Beat Goes On" (2002), "Love Generation" (2005, featuring Gary "Nesta" Pine), and "World, Hold On (Children of the Sky)" (2006, featuring Steve Edwards). His 2006 release, "Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)," sampled the iconic C+C Music Factory track and further solidified his status in the dance music genre.

In 2009, he collaborated with the legendary hip-hop group The Sugarhill Gang on "Lala Song," a remix of their classic hit "Rapper's Delight," marking a significant moment as it became the first hip-hop song to reach the top 40 charts. Sinclar's contributions to music have earned him accolades, including the TMF Award for Best Dance International in Belgium in 2006.
