Early Life

Chyler Leigh West was born on April 10, 1982, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Yvonne Norton and Robert Potts. Growing up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, she faced early challenges when her parents' weight-loss business went bankrupt, leading to their divorce when she was just 12. After moving to Miami with her mother and older brother, Leigh began modeling in eighth grade and acted in local commercials. In pursuit of her acting career, she relocated to Los Angeles at 16, where she passed the California High School Proficiency Exam.

Career

Leigh's acting career began with her film debut in 1997's "Kickboxing Academy." She gained significant recognition in 2001 for her role as Janey Briggs in the hit comedy "Not Another Teen Movie," where she also appeared in Marilyn Manson's music video for "Tainted Love." Over the years, she starred in various TV series, including a notable role as Lexie Grey in the medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" from 2007 to 2012. Leigh also pursued music with her husband Nathan West, performing under the name "WestLeigh" and releasing original songs like "Love Lit the Sky."

Personal Life

In 2002, Chyler married fellow actor Nathan West, whom she met during auditions for a TV series. The couple has three children together. Leigh has been open about her struggles with drug addiction in her youth, which she overcame with the help of her faith and a supportive community. She has also been an advocate for mental health awareness, revealing her diagnosis of bipolar disorder in 2019.
